Hypnosis News for Anxiety & Stress
Fox News have published an article on their website stating the effectiveness of hypnotherapy for helping certain conditions have been recognised by the British Psychological Society (BPS). Indeed the BPS have now said that hypnotherapy is a proven technique that helps reduce anxiety, stress, pain, irritable bowel syndrome, insomnia, and migraines. “Improvements from hypnosis can be as specific as eliminating erectile dysfunction or premature ejaculation, remaining committed to a workout plan, delivering a dynamic sales presentation—or as broad as improving motivation and increasing confidence,” said psychologist and certified hypnotherapist Marty Lerman, Ph.D., author of Mindshift.
A Study of Hypnotherapy
A recent Harvard study (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/10801169) found that self hypnosis was beneficial during surgical procedures and associated anxiety and had a noticeable effect on pain, reducing anxiety and that it also improves blood control. For most seasoned hypnotherapists this is old news. In the 1800’s A Scottish surgeon called Dr James Esdaile discovered the power and effect of using hypnosis with his patients in India. Not only did it help them to experience less or no pain at a time when anaesthetics were not available, his patients seemed to recover more quickly from their operation and experience less blood loss.
Hypnosis – A Historical and Modern Help for Anxiety
With the use of hypnotism to help soldiers who suffered from “shell shock”, or as it is known today, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), during the first and second world wars, this particular form of mental ability seems to have limitless potential. In fact a hospital in Manchester treats their IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) patients by teaching them self-hypnosis and in Lancashire a large study has been undertaken to monitor the effectiveness of helping expectant mothers. There are many dentists who use it for pain control when they have a patient who is unable to have the usual pain control choice of chemical anaesthesia.
Professional and experienced hypnotherapists who operate from most cities in the UK including London, Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh and Cardiff to a name a few, can help you discover how to reduce your anxiety, worry and stress and help many other life issues. Most will offer a consultation to enable you to make a more informed choice.
